Akira Jimbo - Cotton (1986)
Japan Record – 28JAL-3051
Each member of Casiopea released a debut solo albums between 1985 and 1986. Cotton is Akira Jimbo's effort and (in my opinion) is the best of the four. His songwriting is brilliant in the genre he chooses, which is a jazz-latin hybrid with tropical vibes reminiscent of early Takanaka. He also brings in masterful players such as Abraham Laboriel and Patrice Rushen to contribute. Lots of jovial and wholesome lyrics give this album a nostalgic feeling that few others in the jazz fusion genre have achieved.
This copy is in top condition, the board looks great and sounds good. The insert is crisp.
Note: Akira Jimbo's solo career has also turned out to be the most successful out of the other members of Casiopea, now comprising over 30 releases!
